Friends!
Today I want to discuss the main difference between Linux Mint Cinnamon and Mate.

We know that Linux Mint is a pretty decent operating system. Because it’s based on and compatible with Ubuntu, not only do you get the same standard of media support, you also have access to the same software as Ubuntu users. In fact, Linux Mint is a great operating system for people who like Ubuntu.

What is the difference between Linux Mint Cinnamon and Mate??

Cinnamon and MATE are both derivatives of the Gnome desktop environment.Cinnamon and MATE are two different desktop environments. At one time MATE and Cinnamon were almost identical but that is no longer the case. Cinnamon is really it’s own desktop.

MATE is the GNOME2 desktop and offering the same old traditional desktop experience.MATE was developed from the older, but much more popular Gnome 2.MATE resource requirements are moderate. The graphics are less intensive and easier on older computers, so it's a much faster environment for use on legacy machines.

Cinnamon desktop is developed by the Linux Mint team. They have specific goals to make the best desktop Linux experience with traditional look and feel with an admixture of beauty and modern interface. Cinnamon or Gnome3 are heavy on resources but most powefull ones on respectively new and fast computers.

However, Cinnamon, developed from Gnome 3 is much more graphics intensive, requiring greater resources, which can be difficult for some computers to handle.
